Bringing Home A New Cat

Tips for a happy, healthy new cat.

Guide To Bringing Home A New Cat

Kitten-Proof your Home

Time to clean! Remove anything from the floor that the kitten could chew or swallow, such as human food, ornaments, or wires.

Only keep things on the floor that you don’t mind being eaten, chewed, or soiled on.

Grooming

You will need to bathe your cat at some stage!

Buy gentle shampoo.

Flea shampoo is ideal.

Also, buy brushes for your cat.

Normally we recommend both a hard brush (to get through knots in their fur and to effectively remove dirt), a soft brush (for use around the cat's face and legs), and a flea and tick brush (just in case!).

Litter

Since most kittens aren't litter box trained you must get the right kind to start them off.

Start with an uncovered litter box and use small-grained, no-scent litter like Petworld’s Sophisticat Original Cat Litter.

Night Time

Kittens like a nest and hooded beds like our Benin Cat Igloo or Gor Pets Hooded Cat Bed Coral

Weave because they mimic sleeping with their family. Anything that heats up is welcome too!

TLC

Cats and kittens entering a new home can be very nervous at first.

They will need a lot of affection, care, and love.

Spend time with your new furry friend.

Get to know what they like and dislike.

Soon you’ll see a beautiful friendship grow between you both.
